Our fundraising stars ...



If welfare is the heart of our organisation, fundraising is its lifeblood.

Our welfare schemes are entirely self-financed by the fundraising efforts of our members so without their on-going support and generosity, none of our work would be possible.

Fundraising for The Women’s Section is a fantastic way to raise money and increase awareness about our organisation and what we do. The fundraising results our branches and counties manage to achieve are spectacular. In recent years our members have consistently raised around half a million pounds to fund our welfare schemes.

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in events organised nationally or by a local branch or county (including the Legion’s Annual Poppy Appeal) but if you’d like to organise your own individual sporting or fundraising event in support of The Women’s Section, please let us know.

3. Set up fundraising page through™ and take donations online

We’ve teamed up with – a fundraising website which allows you to set up your own fundraising page and collect donations for your event online. The money you receive in sponsorship online is then directly transferred to us by VirginMoneyGiving. It’s completely secure, easy to set up and also offers Gift Aid for donations, making every donation you receive worth more to us. 

You can personalise your page with your story and photos and there’s plenty of helpful fundraising tips and ideas to support you. The ‘Raise more’ section is full of fundraising ideas and practical tools and templates to save you time and help you along the way. PLEASE NOTE: This facility will not be available until Monday 3rd December

4. Promote your fundraising activities online via Facebook and Twitter

Social network sites like Facebook, Twitter and even Linkedin are a great way to promote your fundraising activity to friends and family and get the support you need to reach your fundraising target. Appeal to your friends on to support your fundraising activity and to your followers about your progress and how much money you've raised (and don’t forget to tag @womens_section in your Twitter feeds so we can re-tweet your great twitter posts!)

6. Tell us about it!

We want to hear all about your event - what you’re planning, how it goes, how much you raise. Send us as much detail as possible along with a photo and we’ll make sure it gets the recognition you deserve! Email your photos along with as much detail as possible to and our Communications Officer will be in touch.
