The Garden of Remembrance, St Paul's Cathedral

The Royal British Legion's Garden of Remembrance officially opened on Monday 4th November, marking the start of a month in which the lives of those lost in war are remembered.

Garden of RemembranceThe Very Reverend Dr David Ison, Dean of St Paul's led the service, before crosses were planted by the Representative Lord Mayor, Alderman Ian Luder, on behalf of the citizens of London, HM Forces and other service organisations. Representing The Women’s Section was National Chairman, Mrs Wendy Bromwich, and representing each County of the Metropolitan area was Janet Salter, Audrey Conway and Ruth Buckle.

In attendance were the Band of the Grenadier Guards, The Royal British Legion Standards, the ceremonial squad of the London Ambulance Service and the City of London Schools Choir.

The moving ceremony also included the Last Post and Reveille, punctuated by a two-minute silence.
