RBL Women's Section AGM

Thank you to all the branches, delegates and visitors that attended the Women’s Section Annual General Meeting in Harrogate on the 1st February. It was a successful meeting, and it was a pleasure to meet those in attendance.

The following motions were all passed, and will be put forward to the RBL Annual Conference where applicable:

Motion 1 - This Conference requests that Central Committee mediate with the Royal British Legion to continue with the Women’s Section Administrative Branches; increasing the number of Branch members from 20 to 30, in order to maintain the current number of Branches and uphold our fundraising efforts.

Proposed by Wallasey Branch, seconded by Formby Branch. Vote was unanimous, motion carried

Motion 2 - This Annual Meeting recommends that the Membership fee be increased by £4.00 to £14.00 for one year.

Proposed by Central Committee, seconded by Horley Branch. Vote was unanimous, motion carried

Motion 3 - This Annual Meeting recommends that as a surplus accrues on the Women’s Section Allowance Fund, that this surplus be transferred to the President’s Award Scheme.

Proposed by Central Committee, seconded by Wallasey Branch. Vote was unanimous, motion carried

Motion 4 - This Meeting recommends that the Women’s Section re-introduce what was originally known as the "Wardrobe Scheme".  This Scheme could then assist clients towards such items as Winter Coats, other clothing also household linens such as duvets/duvet covers.

Proposed by Central Committee, seconded by Mersea Island Branch. Vote was unanimous, motion carried 

Motion 5 - This meeting recommends that the ruling of only one officer job per member is reviewed by the Royal British Legion in conjunction with the Women’s Section to permit, where there is definitely "no conflict of interest" a member to hold two positions.

Proposed by Central Committee, seconded by Thorney Branch. Vote was unanimous, motion carried
